Classic options with a unique spin.

I love throwing parties and attending them too! I know the work and thought that goes into hosting a soiree, so I always bring a token of my appreciation for the host or hostess. When searching for hostess gifts, I believe it's important to look for items that the host can use again and again, throughout the year. For example, consider giving the hostess flowers in a votive candle holder "vase." After the flowers are gone, a candle can be popped into the votive cup and it can be used year round, as a longtime reminder of your gratitude. Here are a few more of my favorite long lasting hostess gifts.

The world traveler's escape.

I can imagine reminiscing about roads less traveled with old friends while enjoying a cup of tea in this intimate, cozy living space. My favorite thing about this room is the unique map wall covering. What a great idea! It injects an instant feeling of warmth and antiquity that is so welcoming. The travel theme is echoed in the collection of framed maps on the wall that really pop against the room's strong red palette. The infusion of modern furniture really gives this room an unexpected twist.

In my last post, I shared ideas for making the perfect invitation and creating a script generating activity. Check out the rest of my ideas for making your children's theater party a success!

Indoor creative fun for the winter months.

With winter nearly upon us and the weather forecast calling for rainy weekends and early winter nights, children are twiddling their thumbs and wondering what to do. Why not throw a Children's Theater Party for some indoor creative fun? With a box of costumes, a few props and an imagination free to roam, your children can travel to outer space or to the jungle, and the sky can be green and the grass can be blue. What I love the most about creative play is that children learn about emotions, problem solving and relating to other people. Hollywood, move over ... we have children ready to take center stage!
