We have a mattress with pillow top on both sides and my husband and I flip the mattress on the first of the odd months and turn the mattress on the first of the even months.  note: the first Saturday of each month..  We have had our mattress for 11 years and it still looks and feels like new..

Thank you to BMack because I was reading other comments and misunderstood. I was beginning to think that because I have a pillow top, I should never flip. But I do have several mattresses with pillow top on both sides, and have been flipping them for years. I was beginning to think I caused this dip in mattress (I am average weight). Thanks bmack for the straight info!

You turn your mattress instead of flipping it. I have always used pillow top mattresses and I love that all i have to do is turn it instead of flipping it. It keeps it newer longer just like flipping old mattresses do.

I'm right there with Bmak.  I'm so disappointed that mattresses can't be turned anymore, creating permanent dips.  I used to flip my old mattress twice a year and it stayed almost new for 15 years.  The only reason we got rid of it was because we moved cross-country.

We've been able to teach our old cat-12yr old, enough new tricks that she sometime invents her own games and teach to two younger ones.  All play fetch even to the point of hiding the toy and finding it to play with.  Have taught them all to meow quietly when they want something, they notify use when out of water in 2 different location.  Better than anybodies dawg!

I think these ideas may be helpful to the 20's and 30's age group. You'd be surprised how many folks really don't know how to clean their home.  Have to admit the window box house is exaggerated like a "fairy tale" home.   They could toss in some more ideas on starting a garden for small spaces, and spruce it up with some economical interior decor uplifts that don't cost much.  Most people I know won't be tossing out the slightly worn to buy new as quickly as before this economic crisis hit. Overall it is good common sense type tips for cleaning.

Tip---Turn your mattress

How can you turn your mattress when all the big names make them only with one good side now.  Makes them cheap, only half the life they used to have.  Buy one that can be used on either top or bottom.  It should last twice as long.Open-mouthed

This is already regular cleaning that we do year round anyway.  Plus we don't have basements in SoCal.
